Loris "Nadine" Smith, 78, of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born March 24, 1936 in Rudy, Arkansas, the daughter of Jasper and Alpha (Richards) Wood. Nadine married Herbert G. Smith in 1967 at Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2014. She was a graduate of Gates Business College and was an executive secretary at Black Hawk Publishing, later renamed Joe Kennedy and Associates. Nadine loved visiting with family and friends, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and baking. Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Deb) Smith of Denver, Iowa and Ryan (Stacy) Smith of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Peyton, Megan, Connor, Alexis & Sterling Smith, and a sister, Hazel Renner, of Cedar Falls. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and six sisters. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
