Loretta M. Mcenroe

Loretta Mae McEnroe, 92, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Deery Suites in Cedar Falls. She was born September 5, 1932, near Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Esther (Geffert) Steege, and graduated from Waterloo West High School. On October 14, 1951, Loretta married Allan McEnroe in Waterloo. The two shared 46 years of marriage prior to Allan's death on March 3, 1998. During those years, Loretta was a dedicated housewife, taking care of the home and raising their two children.

Loretta loved to play golf and go fishing. She was also a wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed volunteering and providing community services in the area. Loretta looked forward to her monthly morning neighborhood "coffee-clutch" meetings to get updates on her neighbors' lives and enjoy the company of friends. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Loretta is survived by her two sons, Mike (Diana) McEnroe and Rich (Laura) McEnroe; and two grandchildren, Morgan and Tom McEnroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allan McEnroe; sister, Geraldine Guerrero; and significant other, Ken Schlichting.

Visitation will be from 3-5pm, Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Loretta's funeral service will be at 11am, Monday, January 13, with visitation an hour prior, at Diamond Event Center in Cedar Falls. Following the reception, graveside services will be held at Waterloo Memorial Park at 1:30pm.
