LORAINE M. ERICKSEN AMES, 85, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. She was born July 24, 1920 at Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Jim and Mary (Miller) Jacobsen. Loraine married Glen L. Ericksen on December 11, 1942 at Fredsville Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1970. She married Sylvan R. Ames on February 6, 1971 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1999. Loraine was a graduate of Dike High School and Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). She taught country school and farmed with her husband, and also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Fredsville Lutheran Church. Loraine was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church and a Friend of Salem Church, Lincoln, Iowa. She was also a member of Living Branches Service Organization and the Mobile Nobles. Loraine and Sylvan wintered in Mission, Texas, where they loved to play golf.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sally Stoehr of Gladbrook; three step grandchildren, Jeff Stoehr of Beaman, Stacy Stoehr of Lincoln and Kelcey Stoehr of Des Moines; three step great grandchildren, Kaily, Shelly, and Clay Stoehr; two nephews, Darryl (Peggy) Sherwood and Delmar Sherwood, both of Dike; a niece, Denise (John) Craig of Stout, and many cousins.  Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and her sister, Arvilla Sherwood.

Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Fredsville Lutheran Church, with interment at Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Fredsville Lutheran Church or Salem Church, Lincoln, Iowa.
