Lola J. Greene

Lola Greene, 69, of Cedar Falls, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Lola was born in Cedar Falls on September 26, 1956, the daughter of Le Roy and Margaret (Fredrickson) Schons, and graduated from Cedar Falls High School. She went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Upper Iowa University. Lola married Bruce Greene and later divorced. Lola worked for the accounting firm Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co, LLC in Waterloo for 27 years.

She loved to crochet, especially blankets. Lola made blankets for all of her nieces and nephews as wedding gifts, and when they had children, she would give baby blankets as gifts. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together and being around her family.

Lola is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Greene (Tristan Sterken) of Washburn; two grandchildren, Matthew and Autumn Hurlbut; three sisters, Josie Scott, Linda Wheelock and Mary Backer all of Cedar Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas Schons, Sr. and Robert Schons; and two children, Joseph and Jessica Greene.

A celebration of life for Lola will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 6-8pm, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4074, 2125 W Lone Tree Rd, in Cedar Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to her family. Please visit www.dahlfuneralhome.com to share condolences.
