LOIS THALACKER was born June 2, 1921 in Huron, S.D. the daughter of Harry and Salome (Grosshans) Westwood. She married the Rev. Arnold Thalacker on May 29, 1950 in Mason City. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2001. Lois graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and also received a degree in Library Science from the University of Northern Iowa. She was an English Teacher and then a Parrish Worker in Albert Lea, Minnesota and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City until the time of her wedding. Lois was also the Librarian for 10 years at Allen Hospital School of Nursing. She died Friday, December 20, 2002 at her home at the age of 81 years. Survivors include four sons, William Thalacker of Waterloo, James Thalacker of Weslaco, Texas, John Thalacker of Fort Dodge, and Mark Thalacker of Woodbridge, Virginia; two daughters, Ruth Nelson of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Sarah Howdon of Cedar Falls, twenty grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, and one brother, Wayne Westwood of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Naomi Vrhovnik, and two brothers, Wilbur and David Westwood.

Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Harrisville Cemetery, Harrisville, Wisconsin.  Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, or the Chapel at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
