Lois Rippe

Lois Z. Rippe, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday February 15, 2014. Lois was born February 7, 1940, in Dimock, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Erna (Neugebauer) Zangle. She married Duane Rippe on December 27, 1962 in Dimock. She received a BA degree from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD and a MS degree from the University of Minnesota Mankato. She was a business teacher at Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, Iowa, and Gates Business College, Waterloo, Iowa. Then she became an accounting instructor at Hawkeye Community College and taught there for 20 years. Survivors include her husband, Duane Rippe, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Doug (Leah) Rippe of Naperville, IL, Mark (Abby) Rippe of Denver, IA, and Kurt (Julie) Rippe of Hudson, OH; five grandchildren, Julia and Derek Rippe of Naperville, IL, and Jacob, Kathryn, and Lauren Rippe of Hudson, OH, and a sister, Berniece (Jerry) Mayer of Sioux Falls, SD. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Don Thorson of Chamberlain, SD. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4:30- 7:00 PM Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
