Lois M Hummel

Lois Mae Hummel, 70, of rural Dike, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at her home.  She was born January 5, 1940 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Edward and Mary Ellen (Wright) Christiansen.  Lois married Ivan Hummel on June 14, 1956 in Cedar Falls.  She worked at the Barn Café in Dike for over thirty years, and the AmericInn Hotel in Cedar Falls for three years.

Survivors include her husband, Ivan Hummel, of rural Dike; two daughters, Rita K. (David) Moore of Snook, Texas and Brenda Jo Hummel of Grimes, Iowa; two sons, Rick J. (Ronda) Hummel of Grand Junction, Colorado and Kelly L. (Michelle) Hummel of Lewisville, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Joy Melka, of Marble Rock, Iowa, and a niece, Lori Melka.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joshua Lee Hummel.

Services will be 1:30 pm Friday, August 20, 2010, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Visitation will be 4—8:00 pm Thursday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Iowa Home Healthcare.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
