Lloyd Ernest Swanson, 92, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Bloomington, Minnesota, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the Western Home Communities Thalman Square in Cedar Falls. He was born February 26, 1921 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Ernest Victor and Ellen Sophia (Ostrom) Swanson. Lloyd married Phyllis Johnson on February 5, 1949 in Minneapolis. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Lloyd was a machinist with Jari Corp. and Clover Leaf Creamery, both in Minneapolis, retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Swanson, of Cedar Falls; a son, Gregory (Robin) Swanson, of Savage, Minnesota; two daughters, Dawn (Steve) Ford of Cedar Falls and Deb (Mark) Otto of Omaha, Nebraska; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Joan Swanson; a brother, Vernon Swanson, and a sister, Marjorie Swanson. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Oxboro Evangelical Free Church, 9431 Nicollet Ave, Bloomington, MN 55420. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
