Lloyd H. Plakke, 95, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Spring Lake, Michigan, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. He was born May 3, 1919 in Holland, Michigan, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Leeuwen) Plakke. Lloyd married Adeline Wolf on August 22, 1942 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a metal finisher at Challenge Porcelain in Grand Haven, Michigan. Survivors include his wife, Adeline Plakke, of Cedar Falls; a son, Bruce (Linda) Plakke, of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Brenda (Gary) Lettengarver, of Laguna Hills, California; six granddaughters and their spouses and four great grandsons. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Henry Plakke, and three sisters, Irene Van Duesen, Vera Atman and Cornelia Plakke. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Western Home Communities Chapel in Cedar Falls, with inurnment at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until service time at the Western Home Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home Foundation Elizabeth Martin Health Center.
