Lisa Ann Bennett, 50, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Lisa was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on December 11, 1973, the daughter of Steven "Steve" and Karen "Kim" (McQuiston) Lackershire. From a young age, Lisa enjoyed spending her time with family, friends, and doing the activities she loved. She played softball and volleyball for Perry High School, where she graduated in 1991. Lisa continued her softball career at Briar Cliff College. At Briar Cliff College, Lisa earned her Bachelor's degree of Arts and Accounting on May 20, 1995. After graduating college, on October 21, 1995, Lisa married Randy Bennett in Perry, Iowa.
Lisa achieved her CPA certification and began her career working as an accountant for a couple different insurance companies. Her drive and expertise eventually led her to become Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Marengo Memorial Hospital. Lisa went on to earn her Master's degree from Des Moines University while working at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa. For the past 19 years, Lisa proudly served as CFO at the Waverly Health Center, where her innovative problem-solving and dedication to her work left a lasting impact. In the workplace and at home, Lisa was patient, calm, a good listener, and ultimately loved to help people.
Lisa's positivity, generosity, and welcoming spirit were a hallmark of her character. She believed in the power of perseverance, often reminding those around her with her favorite sayings: "Don't let the bad days win" and "Never stop moving forward." Her unwavering dedication to her family was evident in her constant support and presence at their events and milestones. Lisa was also an avid traveler. She had a knack for always finding the best deals and planning memorable trips. When winter arrived, she and her family enjoyed escaping to the warmth of Florida as snowbirds, creating cherished memories in the sun. Her legacy of positivity, problem-solving, patience, and dedication to others will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Randy Bennett of Waterloo, IA; two children, Mason (Ashlea) Bennett of Rochester, MN, and Lauryn Bennett of Waterloo, IA; mother, Kim Lackershire of Atlantic, IA; siblings, Gene (Jennifer) Lackershire of Happy Valley, OR, and Molly (Terry) Robertson of Elk Horn, IA; mother-in-law, Marlene Bennett of Perry, IA; sisters-in-law, Tracy (Pat) Gasche of Perry, IA, Windy Bennett of Ankeny, IA, and Misty (Matt) Conrad of Perry, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Steve Lackershire; grandparents, Lee and Betty McQuiston; and father-in-law, Dave Bennett.
Lisa's visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Visitation will continue at the funeral home the following morning on Friday, November 22 from 10-11am, followed by her funeral service at 11am. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th St, West Des Moines, IA 50265, starting at 2:15pm. Memorial contributions in Lisa's memory may be directed to the
