Linda Kay Wahner

Linda Kay Wahner, 73, Cedar Falls, died Saturday, September 20, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side under the care of UnityPoint Hospice following a 40-year battle with cancer.

Linda was born December 8, 1951 in Waterloo to the late Leonard and Dorothy (Olson) Lofstuen.  She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1970 and married James "Jim" Wahner on June 20, 1970 in Waterloo.  They later divorced.  Linda was a devoted mother and also worked as an administrator at Lehman Trucking & Excavating, Waterloo.

Linda was known for having a green thumb and loved flowers.  She also had a great love for the classic rock music of the 50's and 60's.

Linda is survived by her son, Jason (Joellen) Wahner of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Jason, Jeffrey and Jerod (Krystin) Walter; great-grandchildren, Jayna, Jenna, Jack and Jacob Walter; sister, Dee (Don) Leopard of Madison, WI; brother-in-law, Bob Shafer of Cedar Falls; nieces and nephews, DJ (Cass) Leopard, Beth (Greg Smith) Shafer, Jordan Shafer and Amber (Eric) Dreesman; life-long friend, Sandy Martin; ex-husband, Jim Wahner; and extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy Shafer.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Heartfelt appreciation goes to the nurses and caregivers at UnityPoint Hospice and to Linda's neighbors for all of their care and friendship.
