Listen to Obituary

Linda Kay "Lynn" Dickinson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, August 18, 2025, at Allen Hospital. Lynn was born October 26, 1946, in Mound City, Missouri, daughter of Shirley and Jack Prussman. She married Johnny A. Dickinson on August 31, 1971, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Johnny preceded her in death on December 8, 2013.

Lynn was employed at the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce as Membership Secretary and Accountant for a number of years. She knew most of the businesses, as well as who ran them, and loved being in the St. Joseph area. From there, she earned the job as an accountant at the newly built St. Joseph Ramada Inn, where she worked until marrying Johnny and moving to Waterloo. Soon, they moved to Bismark, North Dakota, where their son Scott was born. Four years later, they returned to Waterloo, where their son Marc was born. They soon moved to Kansas City (Lynn's favorite place ever to live). Then off to Dallas, Texas, and back to Cedar Falls. She kept in touch with all those dear friends in places she lived for her entire life.

In Cedar Falls, she became involved in setting up poll-watches on election days. She was involved with Republican Women, where she was vice president and program chair, setting up luncheons with guest speakers six times a year for twenty years. She also hosted evening Book Club dinners at her home, was a member of P.E.O. for many years, and was BNC Chair for Bob Dole's campaign and involved with the George W. Bush campaign. She was a Cub Scout leader and was on the Auxiliary Board at Mercy One Covenant for fifteen years. She also worked at her friend Emily's store, The Bittersweet Branch, for ten years.

Her love for Bible Study Fellowship started in Dallas in 1987, and she was involved with it for the rest of her life. The Lord was her constant companion, learning from her Grandma Everett to love hymns and God's word. She loved Johnny, Scott, and Marc with all her heart and when the grandkids, Chloe, Jacob, and Eli arrived, her heart melted. Her brother Curt and sister Becky were an endless source of love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny; and sister, Becky; as well as Johnny's parents, Maude and Clyde Dickinson, who loved her like a daughter. Lynn is survived by her sons, Scott (Rachel) and Marc (Laurie); grandchildren Chloe, Jacob, and Eli Dickinson; brother, Curt; brother-in-law, Bruce Medsker; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Lynn's visitation will be held at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1-3pm with a time to share memories starting at 3pm. An inurnment will be held at a later date.
