Lillian Shoemaker of Cedar Falls died Thursday, January 9, 2025 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.

Lillian Alice Webrand was born March 7, 1927, in rural New Hartford, the daughter of Gertrude (Nissen) and William Webrand.  Lillian graduated from New Hartford School in May of 1944.  On December 2, 1945, she married Merle Shoemaker at the Trinity United Methodist Church parsonage in Cedar Falls.  The couple lived and farmed on Merle's family farm in rural Cedar Falls.  They had two boys, Steven and David.  After retiring from farming in 1990, they moved to Cedar Falls.  Lillian worked 20 years in the UNI housekeeping department.  In 2018, Lillian moved to Windcove in the Western Home Communities.  Lillian enjoyed quilting, reading, and visiting with friends.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Steven; and sisters, Vera Shaner and Esther Fleshner.

Lillian is survived by her son David (Polly), four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Cedar Falls and Cedar Valley Hospice.

Lillian's funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 16th at First United Methodist Church of Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Thursday.  Burial will be at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof is assisting the family.
