Lester "Dennis Louie" Juhl, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, August 15, 2014, at UnityPoint Health Allen Memorial Hospital, in Waterloo. He was born June 8, 1942 in Rockwell, Iowa, the son of Louie and Esther (Hansen) Juhl. He married Carlyn Shepherd on February 3, 1973 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Lester graduated from Greene High School in 1960. He was a veteran of the united States Navy, serving during the VietNam Conflict. Lester was an electrician, working for UNI, retiring June 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife Carlyn Juhl of Cedar Falls; two sons, Brock (Leona) Juhl of Springfield, Illinois and Tommy Juhl of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter, Susan Juhl of Oceanside, California; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three extended granddaughters, known as the three Ms, and one brother, Ronald Juhl of Greene, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roger Juhl. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 with military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS post 49 .
