LESTER K.
FREDERIKSEN, 77, of Aplington, Iowa, died Friday, February 27, 2004 at Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington. Lester was born May 5, 1926, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Clarence and May (Krog) Frederiksen. He married Gwendolyn Bond on February 14, 1950, at Fredsville Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on February 15, 1971. Lester married his second wife, Evelyn D. (Cutler) Blanchard on June 16, 1972, at Elk Point, South Dakota. She preceded him in death on August 6, 1996. He was a truck driver for many years with Swiss Valley in Waterloo, Iowa, where he retired in 1975.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas and Larry K. Frederiksen, both of Aplington, Iowa; a step-son, Joel (Becky) Blanchard, of Welcome, Minnesota; a step-daughter, Laurie (Jim) Wither, of Waterloo, Iowa; and twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, a step-son James L. Blanchard, and a sister Margaret Schons.
Graveside committal services were 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls, where military rites were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
