LEROY H. "BUD" DEGENER,
80, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Marshalltown Medical Center. Leroy was born January 14, 1925, at Hudson, Iowa, the son of Edwin Carl and Elizabeth (Noltensmeier) Degener. He married Ruby Christensen and they were later divorced. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He is survived by two sons, David Dewey (Nancy) Degener of Hayward, California and Daryl Dean (Denise) Degener of Kailua, Hawaii; one daughter, Debra Diane (Eric) Younger of Altadena, California; three sisters, Allene (Jerry) Bauer and Marjorie Wulf both of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Dorothy (Duane) Wilshusen of Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Memorial services were held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa with inurnment at Zion Lutheran church Cemetery in rural Hudson, Iowa. Military rites will be by Cedar Falls AMVETS post 49. Memorials may be directed to the family.
