LEONARD CANVIN
HAHN was born May 15, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Andrew and Hazel (Canvin) Hahn. He married Betty J. Larson on August 31, 1946 in Chicago. Leonard served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of operations during W.W. II, receiving the Purple Heart for military merit. He was a compositor in the printing industry for many years, and enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his spare time. Leonard was a member of the Cedar Valley Garden Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chicago. He died Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, at 79 years of age.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Betty Hahn of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his two daughters, Judi Spizzirri and her husband Peter, of Cary, Illinois, and Linda Walsh and her husband Jim, of Cedar Falls; five granddaughters, Jennifer, Sara, Alison, Annie and Rebecca; and his sister, Grace Meyer of St. Maries, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, 1999, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Allen Memorial Hospital.
