Lavonne M, Zimmerman

Lavonne M. Zimmerman, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Western Home Communities Nation Cottage from complications of dementia. Her death occurred one day before her 65th wedding anniversary. She was born August 30, 1928 in Bremer County the daughter of Gustav O. and Elsie (Struck) Boeckman. Lavonne married Paul Zimmerman May 13, 1951 at St. John's Evangelical church, Seigel. Before her retirement in 2002 she worked in the office of Younkers for 22 years. Lavonne enjoyed reading, gardening and baking.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Zimmerman of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Carla (James) Reynolds, of Muscatine, Iowa and Cathy (Dr. Thomas) Wilson, of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, Sarah and Emily Wilson; two sisters, Elaine Kappmeyer, of Clear Lake and Karen (Vern) Bolte, of Tripoli.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Verla Bergman and one brother, Valgene Boeckman.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at Dahl-Van Hove Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
