Lavonne "Bonnie" Fowlkes, 90, of Cedar Falls, went home to be with the LORD on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born March 13, 1925, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Daisy (Carr) Wheelock. Bonnie married LeRoy Fowlkes on November 26, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2001. Bonnie is survived by her four children, Mrs. Sherryl (Nole) Trustin of Parkersburg, Iowa, Mrs. Josetta (Larry) Kibbee of Waterloo, Mr. James (Cheryl) Fowlkes of Ramsey, Minnesota and Mrs. Cynthia (Robert) South of Hawkeye, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a brother, Dencil Wheelock; three sisters, Grace Blood, Hazel Herman, Margaret Hamm, and a half brother, Edward McClure. Bonnie was a blessing and inspiration to her family and friends through her love for Jesus her Savior. She was also a firm believer in and practiced the gift of intercessory prayer for all her family, friends, and each person that she met who shared a need with her. Bonnie was a Deaconess of her church for over 50 years. She will be so missed by all who knew her. We will celebrate her life and her going home to Jesus at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
