LAVONA J. SCHRAGE was born March 4, 1923 at Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Walter and Mabel Emo (Alder) Greene. She married John Joel Cummings in 1939, they later divorced. LaVona married Lee Ernest Schrage in 1958, they later divorced. She was a graduate of the Waterloo Community School District and enjoyed travelling and attending parties with her friends throughout her life. LaVona died Monday, February 22, 1999 at her home in Waterloo, Iowa at 75 years of age.
She is survived by her two daughters, Annette Dietz of SanDiego, California and Pat Overkamp of Cedar Falls, Iowa; her five sons, Jonathon and Randall Cummings, both of Peoria, Illinois, and Charles, Dennis and Dale Schrage, all of Parkersburg, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her sister, Esther Stephens and her brother, John Greene, both of Waterloo and her two former husbands. LaVona was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia Greene.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 1999 at the funeral home with burial at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family or the American Lung Association of Iowa.
