Lavern J. Rindels

LaVern J. Rindels, 91, of Waterloo, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo. He was born October 19, 1922 in Wellsburg, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Anna (Mollendorf) Rindels. LaVern married Wynona Shaffer January 15, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.She preceded him in death in 1985. He served in the United States Army during WW II. Before his retirement, he was a delivery truck driver. He is survived by a son, Dan (Betty) Rindels of Waterloo; two daughters, Diane Espinoza of Waterloo and Lorie Sharar of Traer, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; a brother, Lee (Georgia) Rindels, and a sister, Helen Danner, both of Waterloo. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a son, Michael Rindels; a great grandchild; three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, at Prairie Lakes Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
