Lavelle C Smith

LAVELLE C. SMITH was born April 10, 1910 in Waterloo, Iowa, the third daughter of Oliver and Pearl (Flickinger) Smith.  LaVelle was raised in a Christian Home and on July 8, 1924, at the age of 14, accepted Christ as her personal Savior. LaVelle was united in marriage to Clifford J. Smith on June 13, 1933 in Waterloo.  As a young lady she worked at Black's Department Store.  Most of her married life, LaVelle was a homemaker and full time mother.  LaVelle died Sunday, August 3, 2003, at Peoples Long Term Care in Independence, Iowa at the age of 93 years.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Richard Orr) of Independence, Iowa and Judy (Mrs. Rod Kampman) of Baxter, Iowa; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Vivian (Mrs. Lowell Korfe) of Carlsbad, California. LaVelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Ruth Hauser and husband Milt, Helene Luhm and husband Ezra.

Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa with burial in Orange Township Cemetery in Waterloo.   A memorial fund will be established.
