Laurie J Rath

Laurie Jane Rath, 60, of Waterloo, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Allen Memorial Hospital, after a battle with cancer. She was born December 18, 1948, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Andrew Rath and Audrey Jane Haffa. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1967 and was employed in retail positions in the area.

Survivors include her parents, Audrey Deardoff and Robert Rath; two sisters, Karen (Tom) Hoeppner of New Hartford and Patricia Rath of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Michael Rath of Cedar Falls and Rick (Teresa) Deardorff of Guttenberg; three nieces; and three nephews.

Celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2009 at Celebration First Assembly of God Church, Waterloo.

Laurie was an avid horsewoman and longtime member of the American Paint and Quarter Horse associations. Laurie raised and exhibited her horses for many years.  She will also be missed by her fiance, Brian Owens of Waterloo; an extraordinary friend, Elly Wilkes of Waterloo; and her beloved dog, Benjie.
