Laurel Lee Ericson

Laurel Lee Ericson, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born August 24, 1935 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Arlington and Rosa Mae (Green) Ericson. Laurel married Lorna Coxon on June 15, 1957 at Downey Baptist Church in Downey, Iowa. Laurel graduated in 1953 from Sanborn High School in Sanborn, Iowa. He earned his BS in 1958 and his MS in 1959 from Iowa State University in Ames. Laurel worked for the Federal Land Bank for 26 years and Bank of America for 10 years, retiring in March of 1995. He was a member of the Cedar Falls Rotary Club, Western Home Development Council, and First United Methodist Church Finance Committee and Endowment Committee.

Laurel is survived by his wife, Lorna Ericson, of Cedar Falls; his two daughters, Lucinda (Karl) Harms of West Liberty, Iowa and Ann (Dave) Arns of Waverly, Iowa; his son, Darren (Kim) Ericson, of Sandy, Utah; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his brother, Gerald (Nancy) Ericson, of Mason City, Iowa, and his sister, Pam (Dr. John) Kragt, of Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 11:00 am Monday, July 18, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with inurnment at Downey Cemetery near West Liberty, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be 3—6:00 pm Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home Foundation or First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
