Rogers
December 7, 1946 – February 4, 2026
Larry Frederick Rogers, 79, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo. Larry was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on December 7, 1946, the son of Lawrence and Jeanette (Baker) Rogers. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1965. Following high school, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the same ship as his brother, David Rogers. He served his country honorably for 7 years, during which he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars for the two campaigns he served. Larry was honorably discharged in 1970.
A hard worker at heart, Larry held many jobs throughout his life. Most recently he was manager at the Nisqually Red Wind Casino in Olympia, Washington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and football. Larry loved his Harley. He loved the open road and took many trips to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. Larry also loved spending time with his friends and family. He spent the last several years in Cedar Falls with his nephew and caregiver, Daniel McKee, and he will be missed by many.
Larry is survived by his three sons, Derek, Curtis and John Rogers; two sisters, Darlene McKee and Nancy Dunkelberg; sister-in-law, Marla Rogers; seven nieces; five nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and longtime friend, Clyde McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Duane and Dave Rogers; sister-in-law, Anna Rogers; two brothers-in-law, George Dunkelberg and Ivan McKee; two nephews, Brian McKee and Geoff Dunkelberg; and two nieces, Brenda McKee and Jeanne Volgenau.
Larry has been cremated. A celebration of life will be from 1:00-4:00 PM, with a short time of sharing beginning at 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49, with his inurnment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to his family. Please visit www.dahlfuneralhome.com to share condolences.
