LARRY L. MAYFIELD,
64, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at Sartori Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. He was born July 2, 1940 in Unionville, Missouri the son of William & Crystal Barton. He married Joanne Jean Hugh July 17, 1967 in Unionville, Missouri. Larry worked at John Deere & Company in tractor and repair for 32 years, retiring in November 1998. His most important treasure was his family. He enjoyed being an auto mechanic, singing and playing his guitar, playstation, Iowa Hawkeyes and "NASCAR".
Survivors include his wife, Joanne of Cedar Falls; one son, Mark R. (Cindy) Mayfield, Sr. of Waterloo; two daughters, Kelly J. (Kris) Boesen of Waterloo and Anne M. (Patrick) Gardner of Cedar Falls; step-daughter, Shelly Jo Messina of Houston, Texas; three daughters from a previous marriage, Joylene (Mike) Forsyth of Chandler, Arizona, Lorie Morrison of Elko, Nevada, and Shelene Gilbreth of Fort Collins, Colorado; nineteen grandchildren including Patrick J. Mayfield, Larry J. and William R. Gardner of Cedar Falls, Brandy Jo Mayfield, Seth M. and Jordan Anne-Marie Boesen, Mark R. (Alisha) Mayfield, Jr., Matthew L. Mayfield, Justin K., Joshua C. and Colten R. Redig, all of Waterloo, Emily C. Messina of Houston, Texas, Sarah and Theresa Jarvis of Grand Junction, Colorado, Nikki, Mikey and Kathy Forsyth of Chandler, Arizona and Samantha Mayfield of Elko, Nevada; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Susan; his granddaughter, Amber; his brother, Henry Lee Bartmess of Waverly, Iowa and his sister, Karen L. Hayes of Kirksville, Missouri.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
