Kevin William Kurt

Beloved husband, Dad, Papa, Kevin William Kurt passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024 with the love of his life by his side.

Kevin was born November 14, 1956 to Kenneth and Joyce "Sally" (Harmon) Kurt. He was raised in New Hartford, Iowa and was a proud descendant of the town's founders. At 16, he met his forever love, Jenniffer Shadlow. They were married on November 15, 1975 and were blessed with two children: Rita and Kevin.

The early years of family life saw many wonders as Kevin travelled the land as a country musician. He played in his own bands as well as collaborating with numerous celebrities such as Dottie West and Bill Anderson. Many amazing stories began with, "Back when I was performing…"

Kevin had many talents and hobbies. Other than music and family, he also loved trains, history (especially WWII), genealogy, fishing, cooking or baking, and putting together jigsaw puzzles with Jenny. To meet Kevin was to love him and we will all miss him dearly.

Kevin is survived by his true love, Jenny, of Marion, his daughter Rita (Steve) Komers, of Marion, his son Kevin (Felicia) Kurt, of Charles City, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Sally, his sister Leah, and his parents in-law, Craig and Judy.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.
