KENNETH L. NIEMAN,
85, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was born January 19, 1921 at Clarksville, Iowa, the son of John and Cecile (Lockwood) Nieman. Ken married Deloris Dunlap on November 24, 1945 at Corwith, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Campus School (Northern University High School) in Cedar Falls. Ken served with the United States Army Air Corps during WW II. He farmed for many years and was the manager of Central Stores for 22 years at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1986. Ken was a member of the Cedar Falls Kiwanis Early Risers Club and First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Jared (Juli) Nieman and Jon (Grace) Nieman, both of Davenport; two daughters, Jo Ellen (Dennis) Winegar of Bettendorf and Jill (Douglas) Danielsen of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a brother, Gordon (Janet) Nieman of Cedar Falls. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Janelle Nieman, and a sister, Maxine Leymaster.
Memorial services were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at First Christian Church, with private committal services at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Covenant Dialysis Center, or the Western Home Communities.
