KENNETH CHARLES LAKIN, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born March 4, 1920 in Livermore, Iowa, the son of Harry and Myrtle (Thompson) Lakin. Ken married Lola Brown on August 12, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and served with the 133rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, in the European Theatre of Operations, during WW II. Ken was a machinist for over forty years at Clay Equipment Company in Cedar Falls, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Lola, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Charlie (Hannah) Lakin of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Dick (Janet) Lakin of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Gaio (Amy) Lakin, Winona Lakin, Olaf (Jessica) Lakin, Nick Lakin, Ben Lakin, Joe Lakin and Derrick Mbezal; a sister, Dorothy Pape of Springfield, Missouri, and three brothers, John (Roberta) Lakin of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Harry (Grace) Lakin of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Bob (Dorothy) Lakin of Cedar Falls.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Monday, January 8, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church, with private inurnment at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson Foundation.
