KENNETH H. HERBSLEB, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center in Cedar Falls. Kenneth was born January 17, 1914 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Henry & Ella (Roberts) Herbsleb. He married Carolyn Crane on August 2, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 2, 1991. Kenneth married Evelyn Potts on March 22, 1996 in Cedar Rapids. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WWII. Kenneth was a meter repairman for 13 years with Cedar Falls Utilities, was a ranger for five years at the Boy Scouts Camp Ingawanis near Waverly, and was a custodian at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1972. He was past commander of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and was past department chaplain. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Raymond (Kathleen) Herbsleb of Cedar Rapids and Gordon (Patsy) Herbsleb of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Caroline (Steve) Bertrand of Ionia, Iowa; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; and one brother, Alfred Herbsleb of Waterloo. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Carolyn; an infant daughter, Carol Ann; a brother, Harry; and three sisters, Margaret Petersen, Henrietta Homan, and Cylinda King. Services were 10:00 am Thursday, February 9, 2006, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where military rites were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Inurnment will be at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls.  A memorial fund will be established.
