Kenneth E. Hart, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. He was born June 27, 1920 near Parkersburg, Iowa, the son of Fred E. and Hattie (Lashbrook) Hart. Ken married Tina Asche on November 17, 1942. She preceded him in death on August 27, 1987. He married Dixie Teeple on October 14, 1995 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. Ken graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended the Univ. of Iowa. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II. Ken farmed in the Parkersburg area for many years, and then started Hart Realty in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie, of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Deborah Lea (Pete) Foster, of Bowie, Maryland; a son, RAdm Steven E. (Peggy) Hart, of Decorah, Iowa; two step sons, Brent (Maureen) Hastings of Cedar Falls and Ronald (Jo) Bourret of Lake Mary, Florida, and twenty grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, two brothers, Vernon and Donald Hart, and a sister, Iva Truax.
Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2009, at Cedar Valley Community Church in Waterloo, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Friday, September 4, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church or Young Life Urban, 1130 E. Missouri, #404, Phoenix, Arizona 85014. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
