Kenneth L. Caquelin, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Ken was born October 8, 1933 in Woolstock, Iowa, the son of Raymond & Ethel (Shillington) Caquelin. He married Norma Ellen Hoffman April 28, 1961 in Hampton, Iowa. Ken served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He graduated with his master's degree from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls. Ken was a teacher in Hampton School District, Oelwein School District, Waterloo West High School for 27 years and in the Mathematics Department at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Caquelin of Cedar Falls; two sons, David James (Ione) Foster of Iowa City, Iowa and Dean Richard (Maralee) Foster of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren, Calvin (Emily) Foster, Rachel (Patrick) Cronin, Hannah (Brandon) Dietrich, Lauren Foster and Bethany (Kyle) Baum; and one sister, Rachael Kvapil of Bettendorf, Iowa.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Melvin, Richard, Don and Daryl Caquelin; and two sisters, Donnabelle Caquelin and Lois Foster.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with inurnment in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Cedar Valley Hospice or the Salvation Army. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
