Kenneth D Bigelow

Kenneth D. Bigelow, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. Ken was born May 8, 1920, at West Union, Iowa, the son of Fred & Lula (Tremaine) Bigelow. He married Della Newton October 26, 1940, at Muscatine, Iowa. She preceded him in death July 15, 1993. Ken served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a machinist at Viking Pump for 28 years, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his son, Ronald Bigelow, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Sharon (Rich) Ahrens, of Winona, Minnesota and Judy (Steve) Hill, of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Tamara (Russ) Myers, Shelly (Dan) Jensen, Angie Bigelow, Troy (Heidi) Hill and Trent (Lori) Hill, thirteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marge Maisenbach, of California, and Clara Mae Harrison of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one brother, Lyle Bigelow; and four sisters, Una Mickey, Ula Deuel, Wava Gilbert, and Irma Thorpe.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at the Western Home Chapel with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time at the Western Home Chapel.
