Kenneth "Ken" E. Hussey, 81, of Waterloo, died Monday, July 22, 2019, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Ken was born April 21, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa to Willis and Bertha Carney. At the age of 8, he was adopted by Court & Agnes (Christensen) Hussey. Ken graduated from Teachers College High School with the Class of 1956 and then entered the U.S. Navy serving for 4 years. He married Alyce Benham on January 21, 1959, in Waterloo. Ken furthered his education by taking courses in welding and electrical at Hawkeye Tech. He was employed as a welder with John Deere in Waterloo from which he retired in 1998 and was a member of Waterloo Masonic Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M. Through the years, he was known as "Pa" to the many children he and Alyce fostered.
Survivors include his wife, Alyce Hussey of Waterloo; 4 daughters, Deb (Steve) Lenguadoro of Holland, Iowa, Annie (Dave) Byford of Ackley, Iowa, Denise Krull of Allison, Iowa and Lisa (John) Mathis of Mt. Auburn, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Lonnie (Terry) Carney of Atkins, Iowa, Keith Carney, Allen Carney of California; and 2 sisters, Betty Miller of Surprise, Arizona and Patty Rogers of Brandon, Iowa; and his beloved dog, Jake.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; one great granddaughter; and three brothers, Bob, Don and Terry.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2019 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
Ken enjoyed spending his time fishing, camping, reading and watching Westerns. He also enjoyed occasionally donating to the casino. Spending time with his family was something Ken greatly loved. He lived life to the fullest. A piece of our hearts went to heaven with him. He will be dearly missed.
