Kay Degener

Kay Marie Degener, 75, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.   She was born September 21, 1940 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Delbert and Letha (Thompson) Gerholdt. Kay married Ronnie Degener on November 28, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson. She was a graduate of Finchford High School and was a dental assistant and later farmed with her husband for many years.

Kay is survived by her husband, Ronnie Degener, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Tammi Degener and Annette (Marvin) Freeseman, both of Cedar Falls; a son, Rodney (Marilu) Degener, of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Linda) Gerholdt, of Cedar Falls, and a sister, Dee (Dick) Folkers, of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Hudson. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church.   A memorial fund will be established .
