Kathleen "Kass" Marie Harper

Kathleen "Kass" Marie Harper, 78, Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 11, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.

Kass was born September 17, 1946 in Waterloo to the late Norman Fred and Dorothy Marie (Rasmussen) Cohea.  She earned her Masters degree from UNI in Counseling and went on to work as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for 23 years, retiring from Vocational Rehabilitation in 2009.  Kass was very active in her community serving on the board of the MS Service League, Community Accountability Board - Department of Corrections.

Kass is survived by her children Aaron Michael Harper of Cedar Falls, Jennifer Marie Thoma of Ankeny and Benjamin Nels Harper of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Alaina Marie Thoma and Aiden James Thoma; siblings, Rebecca Lane of Andersen, IN, Jonathan (Donna) Cohea of Tallahassee, FL, Kimberly (Dan) Isbell of Vinton, IA, Carolyn Champion of Tallahassee, FL and Matthew (Kathy) Cohea of Cedar Falls; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her brothers, Timothy Cohea, Christopher "Kit" Cohea and Craig Cohea.

Kass's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.  Kass's urn will be entombed at the mausoleum at Garden of Memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or the Hearst Center for the Arts .
