KAREN R. DIX,
83, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. Karen was born March 24, 1921 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolf and Louise (Johnson) Claassen. She married Fred E. Dix on September 8, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1986. Karen was a graduate of Grundy Center High School and was a secretary for the DX Oil Company, the Waterloo School District and The University of Northern Iowa. She and her husband Fred enjoyed dancing and attended many dances at the Waterloo Elk's Club. Karen also was an avid reader.
Karen is survived by a step-son, Donald A. Dix of Naperville, Illinois; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Marcia Sego of Otho, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a step-son, Fred E. Dix, Jr. and a step-grandson, Michael J. Dix.
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with interment at Garden of Memories, Waterloo, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Public Library.
