Karen Lee Bolger, 71, of Cedar Falls, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born September 17, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Irwin L. and Marjorie E. (Greer) Nelson. Karen married James L. Bolger on August 17, 1968 in Cedar Falls. She was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Washington High School and the University of Northern Iowa. Karen was a physical education teacher at Peet Jr. High School in Cedar Falls for 44 years, retiring in 2012.
She is survived by her husband, James L. Bolger, of Cedar Falls; two sons, JB (Malorie Klunenberg) Bolger and Justin (Kaitlyn) Bolger, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Blaike and Berkley Rae Bolger; her sister, Sandee (Lawrence) Camacho, of Prescott, Arizona; her niece, LauraBeth Camacho, of Honolulu, Hawaii; her aunt, Jean Murray and her uncle, Weir Nelson, both of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Richard L. Bolger, of Arvada, Colorado, and a sister-in-law, Susan J. Bolger, of Cedar Falls.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Phil Nelson.
Services will be private. Visitation will be 4 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Community Schools Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
