Listen to Obituary

June Viola Jacobs, 92, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at MercyOne/Covenant Medical Center of Waterloo.  She was born in Allison on August 22, 1927, daughter of Herbert F. and Hazel (Clark) Jacobs.  June was a graduate of Clarksville High School with the Class of 1944 and, later, Wartburg College in Waverly.  She worked as a telephone operator, then was employed by the Iowa Public Service in Waverly and Waterloo for 9 years, until she and her mother opened Jacobs Pet and Floral on College Hill in 1956.  June retired in 1995 after being in business for 39 years.  She was, then, employed part-time by Bill Doran Company of Waterloo.

June was preceded in death by her parents; and a cousin, Max Jacobs.  She is survived by three cousins, Mary Aissen and David Clark both of Clarksville and Stephen Clark of Waverly.

There will be a graveside service for June at Lynwood Cemetery of Clarksville on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 2:00 pm.  Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society and condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .

June was a very strong and determined individual who still drove a car and lived independently.  She grew up very close to her cousins in Clarksville ice skating and playing other sports.  June had a turkey named Buttercup, that she reared from a hatchling, who rode with her to and from work at the floral shop every day.  She was an avid reader and loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan.  June will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
