Julius Praglin, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Julius was born June 12, 1927, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Aaron & Helen (Rosenberg) Praglin. He married Rosabelle Wolfson June 12, 1949, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Julius served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He is an Alumnus of Boston Latin School, Clark University (B.A.) and the University of Illinois (M.S., Ph.D.). He was the author and inventor of numerous patents. Electrophysiologist and instructor in physiology and ophthalmology at Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland and later Director of Research and Development at Pfizer Diagnostics Division in Groton, Connecticut. Survivors include his wife, Rosabelle Praglin, of Waterloo; three daughters, Judith (Rick) Robbins, of North Haven, Connecticut, Laura (Kenneth Atkinson) Praglin, of Cedar Falls, and Martha (Michael) Smith of Durham, Connecticut and three grandchildren. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Northern Iowa Social Work Department for student scholarships or the donor's choice.
