JULIA "JUDY" BURKET,
82, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, February 21, 2005, at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls. She was born April 12, 1922 at Elkader, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Nora (Lorton) Jones. Judy graduated from Elkader High School and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She was united in marriage to Luther Burket on December 18, 1943 in Miami, Florida. He preceded Judy in death on December 23, 1994. She was a secretary to the Principal at Cedar Falls High School for 26 years, retiring in 1986. Judy was past president of Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and had volunteered at the hospital since 1996. She is a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls and is a past board member of Christian Crusaders.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (David) Glasener, of Cedar Falls; a grandson, Brent Glasener, of Cedar Falls; and her sister-in-law, Lois Burket of Dixon, Illinois.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with interment at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Sartori Memorial Hospital or Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
