Judith A. Pfalzgraf, 86, Cedar Falls, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa.
Judy was born March 25, 1938 in Sumner, Iowa. Her parents were the late Paul and Thelma (Thull) Sorg. Following her graduation from Sumner High School, she attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) where she received her teaching certification. Judy married Gene Pfalzgraf on July 21, 1957 in Sumner, Iowa. Judy and Gene had four children Lisa, Mark, Michelle and Erich. She loved being a Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. She was a preschool teacher for many years and the Computer Lab Supervisor for Cedar Falls High School until retiring in 1993. Judy and Eugene celebrated 56 years together prior to Gene's death in April 2014.
Judy was active in several organizations focused on education and helping women. She was an active member of PEO in Cedar Falls for several years. She was an active member and volunteer with the Cedar Falls Women's Club. She was an avid card player, loved to put puzzles together and play dominos.
Judy is survived by her children; Lisa (Dave) Fasse of Sachse, TX, Mark (Lisa) Pfalzgraf of Cedar Falls, Michelle (Don) McNair of Overland, KS and Erich (Tammy) Pfalzgraf of Oskaloosa, Iowa. She loved and cherished her 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Cory Jensen; siblings, John Sorg and Miriam Harms.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday, May 6, 2024 at Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, May 5 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home; resuming at 9:30 AM until the time of service at church on Monday. Burial will be beside her beloved husband in Greenwood Cemetery.
