Judith Ann Assink, 68, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, November 15, 2007, at her home in Lakeland, Florida. She was born November 2, 1939 in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Roderick Dale and Corinne Beverly (Atkinson) Wheeler. Judith married Gerald B. Assink on November 5, 1960 in Oelwein, Iowa. She was a Sheriff's Service Officer in Polk County, Florida for fifteen years, retiring in 2003.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Assink, of Lakeland, Florida; two sons, Jeffrey Gerald (Connie) Assink of Cedar Falls and Jon Dale (Dana) Assink of Mays Landing, New Jersey; a daughter, Janna Ann McLaulin, of Bartow, Florida; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Jim (Pat) Wheeler of Osage Beach, Missouri and Tim (Diane) Wheeler of Jacksonville, Florida.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 6—8:00 pm Tuesday, November 20, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cornerstone Hospice, 1285 First St. South, Winter Haven, FL 33880.
