JOYCE E. BOIKE, was born November 18, 1916 in Homer, Wisconsin the daughter of Franklin and Ethel Reid Burris. She married Harmon Robert Boike May 31, 1937 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Joyce received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College then helped her husband farm in Grundy County for all of their working lives. She was past Noble Grand of the Dike Rebecca lodge and was a lifelong member of Dike United Methodist Church. Joyce died Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at the Western Home Martin Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa at the age of 83 years.
Survivors include one son, James, of Dike; three daughters, Marilyn Harris, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Judith Mohling and Dorothy Heine, both of Cedar Falls; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; a half brother, Bob Burris of Mason City, Iowa; and two half sisters, Peg Prohaska of Cedar Rapids and Ruth Ann Hermans of Apollo Beach, Florida.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son, Curtis; a grandson, Greg Harris; a half brother, Franklin Burris and a half sister, Rose Marie Waters.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2000 at the United Methodist Church in Dike, Iowa with burial in Elmwood Cemetery also in Dike. A Memorial fund will be established.
