JOSEPH W. "JOE" GAINES, 63, of Janesville, Iowa, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Joe was born June 10, 1943 at Taft, California, the son of Kenneth & June (Taylor) Gaines. He married Robin Ann Renner August 19, 1983 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Joe graduated from Davenport High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a salesman in the wholesale food distribution industry, most recently working for Nova Controls in Watsonville, California. Joe enjoyed collecting antiques and Indian artifacts.

Survivors include his wife, Robin, of Janesville, Iowa; his stepdaughter, Jamie Larsen (Michael Wilson), of Hudson, Iowa; two grandchildren, Ivan Christopher James Wilson and Isabella Zatha Mae Wilson; two brothers, Kenneth Gaines of California and John Gaines of Davenport, Iowa; and his stepmother, Ruth (Glenn) Thomas, of Davenport, Iowa.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2007, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Washington Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday, at the funeral home. A memorial fund will be established.
