Survivors include three sons, Gene (Harry E.) (MaryAnn) Cunningham of Wellsburg, and Jon (Sue) Cunningham and Michael Cunningham, both of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Sue Ayres, of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Roseberry of Greene, Iowa.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Cunningham, his wife, a grandson, and three brothers, James, Phillip and Patrick Cunningham.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4:00 pm Rosary Service and a 7:00 pm Vigil Service will be conducted, and visitation one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
