John Robert Troupe, Jr.

John Robert Troupe, Jr., 77, of Evansdale, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, February 17, 2017.  He was born in Maynard, Iowa on May 24, 1939, one of three children born to the late John R. and Ruth (Wagner) Troupe, Sr.  John was beloved husband of Connie (Klein) Troupe for 60 years.

John will be remembered by his  children, Terrie (Robert) Knight, John (Debra) Troupe, III, Scott (Kristin) Troupe and Virginia (Jeff) Ellis; his 12 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brother, James Carl Troupe; his parents; his son-in-law, Richard Kingery; his grandsons, Daniel & David Troupe, and his sister, Dorothy Smith.

John was a jack-of-all trades and eventually owned and operated his own car dealership, Troupe's Auto, from 1981-1991.  He and Connie enjoyed many years of retirement in Florida and Iowa, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He was a constant jokester and loved making others laugh.  John was a family man who would give anyone the shirt off his back.

Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with inurnment at Garden of Memories in Waterloo.  Visitation will be 4 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
