John Paul Rockey

John Paul Rockey, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. He was born October 11, 1926 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Morgan and Mamie Hester (Bailey) Rockey. John married Vivian Lynds on November 1, 1952 in Lynn, Massachusetts. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2012. John worked for the Seaboard Airline Railroad, Conrail and Amtrak. He was also a real estate agent and built homes. He is survived by two daughters, Lois Rockey of West Chester, Pennsylvania and Susan (Tom) Stickfort of Cedar Falls; a son, Philip (Joanne) Rockey, of Windsor Locks, Connecticut; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Rockey, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and a daughter-in-law, Patti (Paul) Tornaquindici. John was preceded in death by his wife and parents; a son, Stephen Rockey; a great grandson, Evan John Brandt, and a brother, Joseph Rockey. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall. There will also be a funeral service in Pennsylvania with burial in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 58:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the Gospel Hall.
