John B. Oldenburger, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. John was born January 19, 1924 in Allison, Iowa, the son of Benjamin & Gertrude Oldenburger. He married Maxine Miller on September 29, 1949 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death May 18, 2003. He graduated from Shell Rock High School and served in both the U.S. Army and Naval Reserve during and after WWII. John farmed, worked in several banks including People's Bank and Hudson State Bank, and was an accountant and office manager at a local business until starting his own real estate and insurance business. He loved the land and country living. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Osborn, of West Des Moines, Iowa. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his siblings, Frederick, George, Henry, Benjamin and Emma Lou. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, in the chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.
