John R. Miller, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was born May 11, 1942 in Cedar Falls, the son of Donald Hugh and Mary (Hansen) Miller. John married Marilyn Thornblade on June 27, 1965 in Manly, Iowa. John graduated from Cedar Falls High School and attended Iowa State University. He was a farmer and dairyman for many years, a seed corn dealer and Archer Oil dealer, and a 4-H leader. John was a member of First Christian Church, the Farm Bureau, and past member of the Dike-New Hartford Elevator Board. John is survived by his wife, Marilyn Miller, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Brad Miller of Grundy Center, Iowa and Kreg Miller of Cedar Falls; his mother, Mary Miller, of Cedar Falls; four brothers, Paul (Nancy) Miller of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Don (Phyllis) Miller of Waterloo, and Dennis (Nancy) Miller and Russell Miller, both of Cedar Falls; a sister, Linda (Ken) Nielsen, of Charleston, West Virginia; his brother and sister-in-law, Don & Carolyn Keeney, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister-in-law, Chris Miller. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at First Christian Church, with burial at Washington Chapel Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Cedar Falls.
